In order to adapt the camera to the very popular 28–90 mm zoom range a special system of lenses was desgined (EF-S 18–55 f/3.5-5.6 - sold with EOS 300D only). It takes the advantage of the compact sensor and is positioned closer to the sensor by means of the specially designed "short back focus" arrangement. This ensures a combination of an exceptionately light weight and compactness of the lens system .
The 6.3 Megapixel CMOS sensor is very similar to the sensor of the award-winning EOS 10D which became the industry standard for high quality of the image. The user can select the desired sensitivity in the impressive range of ISO 100, 200, 400, 800 and 1600.
The only disadvantage is that Canon has discontinued this item and it is very hard to find a factor-new camera, but the resilient case and robust hardware of the camera make it a perfect solution for the second-hand equipment market.
